What it is on the research record
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist and the oldest of the three incretin compounds on this site. It is approved in many countries, including the Philippines, as a prescription medicine under brand names.
The STEP 1 trial, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2021, followed adults with obesity for 68 weeks and reported an average weight loss of 14.9 percent in the semaglutide group against 2.4 percent with placebo.
The research vials sold online are a different product from the registered medicines, even though the molecule has the same name.
