What it is on the research record
Retatrutide is an investigational compound from a large US drug maker. It acts on three hormone receptors at once: GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon. Most of the attention it gets in the Philippines comes from that third receptor, which the older two-receptor compounds do not target.
The best known published data is a 48-week Phase 2 trial in adults with obesity, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2023. The highest-dose group lost an average of 24.2 percent of body weight, and the most common side effects were gastrointestinal. Phase 3 trials under the developer's TRIUMPH program followed.
None of that data describes a research vial bought in Manila. Trial participants received a pharmaceutical product made to a registered specification, under medical supervision. A research vial is a different product, and the only thing that tells you what is inside it is a certificate for that lot.
