What it is on the research record
MOTS-c was described in 2015 by researchers who found it encoded in the mitochondrial genome. In mice it acted on metabolism and insulin sensitivity, and later work looked at exercise capacity and ageing.
Almost all of the published evidence is from cells and animals. Controlled human data is scarce.
